The Engineering Manager plays a key leadership role in managing engineering functions of the business by providing top-level leadership in developing, implementing, and driving strategic plans for the engineering team. As a member of the leadership team, the Engineering Manager contributes and counsels the day-to-day decision-making of the business.
Responsibilities:
Leads the performance of engineering related activities by providing strategic technical leadership. Establishing and directing all aspects of engineering policies, objectives and initiatives based on long-term product, productivity, and profitability goals.
Develops innovative product solutions, creates and promotes ideas for new products, product enhancements, productivity initiatives, advances critical technology enablers, and executes product development projects that serve a broad customer base of markets.
Ensures associated budget and technical commitments are met.
Ensures sustaining support for all production programs where extensive manufacturing engineering support is required.
Provides leadership and direction with an emphasis on creating a high performing, innovative and collaborative team.
Coordinates engineering functions including capital planning, and identification of methods, systems, equipment, labor and technologies required to meet future cost/performance objectives.
Ensures commitments to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through adherence to various government regulations
Maintains the highest ethical standards and business conduct policies.
Requirements:
BA/BS in engineering; mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, or other engineering related field.
Masters’ degree strongly preferred
8+ years or more relevant engineering experience in an Aviation/Aerospace environment
Proven experience building, managing, and developing effective and innovative technical teams
Ability and passion to bring vision and innovation to the engineering functions
Experience working in a highly regulated environment with ISO9100 and Export requirements
Experience supporting the quality function with root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities regarding nonconformance of products and processes to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Complete and comprehensive understanding of production/manufacturing processes
Strong business acumen with a thorough understanding of the company and the ability to grasp the short- and long-term trade-offs of business decisions
Proven leadership capabilities and able to work with all levels of employees and management
Ability to articulate technical issues at an understandable level to a variety of stakeholders across the organization
LEAN implementation highly valued
ERP super-user
