Buyer/ Planner

MEMPHIS, TN

Responsible for ensuring that all buying/planning and inventory control functions are maintained within the functions of the organization. This role is responsible for purchasing, materials requirements planning, supplier relationship management, product life cycle requirements and inventory control within the confines of FAA CFR 145 regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collate purchase orders and purchase requisitions in order to order materials, goods and supplies
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Create monthly report of consumables and items that will expire every month
  • Remove a part from a work order and issue to another one with proper trace
  • Review inventories and order as required
  • Interact with the suppliers on a day to day basis
  • Review deliveries against the orders
  • Issue parts to work orders
  •  Track the status of any orders
  • Enter quotes from vendors into ILS for repair pricing, piece parts and rotable units
  • Receive parts that have been purchased and if they have an expiration date make sure the due date entered into the system
  • Deal with non-supplied, under orders, over orders and damaged goods
  • Ensure that any invoices are sent to accounts for payment
  • Create alt. part numbers to cross reference OEM piece parts and accepted alternates and connect them in ILS
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
  • Administer on-line purchasing systems
  • Create a work (REPAIR ORDER) order for parts going a for NDT, rewinding or any other function
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Manage any procurement activities including RFP’s
  • Develop/facilitate purchasing procedures of the organization towards its revenue generation and earnings growth goals
  • Resolve complex customer requests or complaints by creating solutions to ensure a smooth purchasing process

  • Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Reporting and Communications:

The position reports to the Company CEO/President

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years’ experience in a Buying/Planning position, preferably related to manufacturing or maintenance services. Demonstrated experience leading change in a manufacturing environment
